ID: Bruton/Piney Mtn 57 Acres Thickety Creek Rd
Call Steve Dana at 910-690-5800. In search of your private, wilderness retreat? We found it! With over 57 Acres of wooded, critter filled land, escape home to your own hunter's paradise. This property is an Outdoorsman's dream with a fabulous location! Only 1.5 hours to several major metros, but secluded and private. There is a recorded legal access to an adjoining property managed by UNF.
Abundant Mountain Laurel explodes into pink and white “tunnels” along river’s edge in May. Wild blueberries are to be had if you can beat the critters to them. There are 3 non-contiguous tracts of the Uwharrie National Forest in the TCWA; all of them are land-locked by private land, and all lack public access. Many huge trees have survived in these tracts as they are too small and too distant to be profitably logged by USFS contractors. Fall foliage is beautiful, but winter provides the best landscape visibility; from Piney Mountain’s southernmost peak (560’) on this property, Green Oak Resevoir and the historic Eury Dam are visible 265’ below. Rock outcroppings of diverse geology adorn the landscape. Town Creek Indian Mound state historical archaeological site is 6.2 miles downstream (measured as the river winds), but less than 10 minutes away from the driveway entrance.
The subject property was almost completely clear-cut circa 1999. Those areas were sprayed, burned, and replanted in pines by hand in 2002 (a great investment 13 years later). Roads, trails, and a small pond have been developed on the property by the current owner. County zoning is Residential-Agricultural; additionally, current owner has registered the acreage as a Voluntary Agricultural District, and buyer has the option of continuing the additional protections that this designation confers.
Enviromentally friendly and off the grid!!! Residence and Barn are powered by:
Solar panels, battery bank, and inverter, sufficient to run almost everything that requires 120 volts (primary source).
Propane-fueled generator for those rare occasions when something else needs to be powered (e.g., central air conditioning).
Refrigerator, stove, hot water heater, clothes dryer, central furnace, and space heaters are run with propane (gas is delivered to the 500 gal. tank on site by a gas company in Troy).
Water is provided by on-site well, pumped into a 500 gal. tank elevated into the side of Piney Mountain, with gravity pressurizing the system without the need for frequent generator use. Sewer is septic tank.
Wireless internet access and telephone lines can be installed at this site. Satellite TV is enjoyed there presently.
Included in offering: Cooking range, refrigerator, clothes dryer ( all propane), washer, gas logs (enclosed pedestal fireplace),
